Can you tell us a little bit about your hometown?
I’m living in a rather small town with 18000 inhabitants; it has a lot of passing traffic so not a very peaceful village. An alarming fact; it has six pharmacies.
Dream job when you were a child?
As far as I can remember I didn’t think of a future job like astronaut or fireman. I was too busy playing outside with my friends.
Do you remember the first picture you ever took?
I think it was a photo of my first born son. I bought a simple camera, but the shopkeeper didn’t load the film correct. The film wasn’t transported, so no photos on it after development. However in that case I don’t know if it counts as taking a picture.
What do you adore most about street photography?
The wandering and searching.
When you are shooting how much of it is instinctual vs planned?
I don’t have a plan when I go out shooting, so it is all instinctual I suppose.
What do you want your viewers to take away from your work?
I’m happy when they have a little moment of enjoyment with my photos; it’s also motivating when people let you know.
What was the turning point in your career?
My pension; now I can take photos whenever I feel like it.
Is making beautiful things enough?
Besides some basic stuff it’s all you need.
Can you tell us your source of inspiration?
Sunshine inspires me and also looking at photos of other known or unknown photographers.
Do you enjoy using social media as a photographer?
Yes, I like it very much; it’s like an enormous international gallery.
What is something you wish you knew more about?
I would like to know more about how things work.
One thing people may be surprised to find out about you?
I’m doing the ketogenic diet for two years now, so far so good.
